  1. 66 Nova 4 Star Review

Posted by on 14 May 2019

Pretty good fit for an AMT model kit. The car went together well. I made some changes to my car to make it my own. For instance, I used old school Torque Thrust wheels on the front. They are a bit smaller in diameter, plus I flipped the wheel mounts upside down to lower the front of the car even more. It gives it a serious rake from back to front.
I also made my own rollbar w/ fire extinguisher mounted on it. And deleted the back seat to allow room for rollbar supports. On the dash board I installed multiple gauges since it wasn't a stock dash anyway. And I installed the Hyperactive boost controller on the dash too. On the seats I put on GM lap belts.
Under the hood the battery and other components are wired. Fuel lines are installed from gas tank to carbs. I used an aftermarket fuel pump mounted on the tank as well. I used a prewired distributor w/ blue wires to accent the engine nicely. The radiator fan is real aluminum. Since the hood is permanently mounted open with hood hinges, I decided to use velocity stacks on the carbs. It took some sanding down on them, but I finally got them to fit under the hood!
All in all, I'm very pleased with this kit and recommend it to serious modelers who want a challenge putting their own touches on it.
